Now What POSTER Turning Screening Data – Alexis Rekdal Kim Marks

This professional learning session responds to teacher requests for support in using district assessments data to plan for next steps, such as follow-up assessments and intentional, differentiated instruction.

In alignment with SD71’s commitment to equity and creating safe, equitable learning environments, this workshop bridges assessment and instruction by helping teachers plan targeted, responsive instruction that aligns with the provincial Foundational and K-12 Learning Progressions and SD71’s literacy frameworks and strategic plan. Teachers will leave understanding their district assessment data, how to proceed with the information, as well as with practical strategies for differentiating literacy instruction based on student needs.

Participants will explore how to leverage Learning Resource Center tools and kits to support targeted skill development identified through assessment data. The workshop maintains the BC curriculum’s emphasis on ensuring students experience the enjoyment of reading and use foundational skills in meaningful ways across all learning areas.
