This 90-minute session helps K–7 educators build confidence teaching about artificial intelligence through the lenses of digital citizenship and the BC Core Competencies. Facilitated by the District Information Technology Support Teacher and District Elementary Teacher-Librarian, the workshop emphasizes the growing presence of AI in everyday life and the importance of helping students understand and use AI tools responsibly.
Teachers will explore age-appropriate books and activities that help students grasp how AI works and learn clear guidelines for classroom use. The session also includes a practical segment on AI tools that support teacher workflow—such as planning, differentiation, and resource creation—while maintaining privacy and safety expectations. Participants will leave with ready-to-use ideas, resources, and strategies for supporting ethical, informed AI use in elementary classrooms.
