BIOGRAPHY – AMANDA CROCKER
Amanda Crocker is a Coast Salish artist, a student in indigenous language proficiency (SFU) and revitalization (UVIC). She started her journey of cultural reconnection working as an indigenous support worker within Indigenous education based on the K’ómoks First Nation territory.
A proud member of the Penelakut Tribe, Amanda grew up distanced from her Indigenous culture due to the effects of colonization and residential schools. However, her journey of rediscovery through education, artistic expression, and community work reflects resilience and a commitment to cultural revitalization.
Inspired by her father’s handmade dreamcatcher, Amanda’s work weaves story, heritage, and land, often using natural elements for jewelry and artwork.
