This condensed virtual course expands social perceptions by exploring the missing context often left out of typical “trauma-informed” workshops. Centering Indigenous perspectives, it focuses on moving beyond being “informed” toward fostering culturally safer, equity-oriented organizations and services.

She plays many roles in the community, including auntie, sister, athlete, coach and advocate.

The unceded, never ceded & ancestral territories of the Musqueam (xʷməθkʷəy̓əm), Squamish (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh), and Tsleil-Waututh (səl̓ílwətaʔɬ) is where Marnie has called a home away from home for over half her life, and where she creates many memories and experiences for growth and healing

With close to twenty years of experience working in Public Health and Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES). Her community expertise is geared towards Indigenous cultural safety, trauma and equity-informed practices, Decolonizing substance use & Indigenous harm reduction.

Today Marnie’s work is dedicated to educating and transforming systems within Western institutions by integrating traditional Indigenous teachings with contemporary practices. She is committed to cultural safety, equity, and decolonizing approaches in public health, education, legal systems, substance use, research, and sports.
